Description

The AquaStar 9MF101 9-Inch Square MoFlow Suction Outlet Cover and Mud Frame provides an anti-entrapment drain-cover assembly for compatible concrete swimming pools and spas. The package includes a white square MoFlow cover, matching mud frame and corrosion-resistant mounting screws.

The MoFlow design distributes suction across an approximately 36.8-square-inch opening area. This broad opening helps reduce concentrated suction while supporting the circulation requirements of residential and commercial pool or spa systems.

Legacy AquaStar specifications rate the assembly for approximately 258 GPM when installed on a pool or spa floor and approximately 274 to 278 GPM when installed on a wall. Published wall figures vary slightly among historic product records, so the certificate of conformity matching the cover’s molded manufacturing date must be used to establish the permitted flow.

The opening area also corresponds to approximately 172 GPM at an opening velocity of 1.5 feet per second and 114.7 GPM at 1 foot per second. These velocity-based figures do not replace the certified SOFA-specific maximum flow rating for the complete installed configuration.

The assembly requires a compliant sump with a minimum depth of 3 inches and a minimum 2-1/2-inch plumbing connection for the legacy published configuration. Actual allowable flow depends on sump geometry, pipe orientation, plumbing configuration, installation position and certification documentation.

The square cover uses four mounting screws with an approximately 8-1/4-inch center-to-center pattern. It is designed to fit AquaStar standard 9-inch-square frames and can retrofit certain Pentair and other compatible frames approximately 3/4 inch deep.

The cover and mud frame are manufactured from UV-resistant engineered polymer for prolonged exposure to sunlight, treated pool water and outdoor conditions. Manufacturer-specified 316 stainless-steel fasteners provide corrosion-resistant attachment in aquatic environments.

The white finish coordinates with plaster, quartz, aggregate and other light-colored pool surfaces. Related AquaStar 9-inch products in this batch include the R9MF101 replacement cover-only model and WAV9WR101 Square Wave cover-and-frame assembly.

This product includes both the cover and mud frame. It should not be confused with AquaStar R9MF101, which is the retrofit replacement cover-only product for a compatible existing frame.

The suction outlet cover is a critical safety component. It must be installed according to AquaStar instructions, certification documents applicable to the manufacturing date, VGBA requirements, local codes and the pool or spa hydraulic design.

AquaStar specifies replacement no later than five years after installation, or sooner if the cover becomes cracked, warped, brittle, loose, discolored or otherwise damaged.

AquaStar currently identifies the 9MF series as discontinued and no longer manufactured. Existing inventory may remain available, but the manufacturing date molded into the cover and the corresponding compliance documentation must be reviewed before installation.
