Description

The AquaStar 1216101 Retrofit Suction Outlet Cover and Frame provides a high-flow, VGBA-compliant solution for replacing many older 12-inch-square concrete pool and spa drain assemblies without removing the complete existing sump.

The visible anti-entrapment cover measures approximately 16 inches square. The assembly includes a 12-inch mud frame and two retrofit adapter frames designed for common existing-frame depths of approximately 3/4 inch and 1 inch. This allows the assembly to retrofit many AquaStar, Pentair, Hayward, PacFab, Waterway, CMP and other compatible 12-inch-square drain frames.

For larger retrofit conditions, the cover assembly may be installed over compatible existing sumps or frames measuring up to approximately 15 inches by anchoring directly into suitable pool finish using the separately available AquaStar BIK4 brass anchor kit and approved installation procedures.

The large 101-square-inch opening distributes suction across a broad surface area. AquaStar publishes a maximum flow rating of 460 GPM for floor installations and 445 GPM for wall installations, subject to the required 3-inch minimum sump depth, plumbing configuration and complete installation instructions.

The cover and frame are manufactured from durable UV-resistant engineered polymer intended for prolonged exposure to sunlight, pool water and outdoor environments. Manufacturer-specified 316 stainless-steel fasteners provide corrosion resistance and secure the cover to molded-in mounting points.

The white finish blends with many plaster, quartz, aggregate, fiberglass and light-colored pool surfaces. The 1216 series may be used for compatible retrofit installations or new concrete construction.

This suction outlet cover is a safety component. The complete assembly must be selected and installed according to AquaStar documentation, applicable VGBA requirements, local codes and the pool or spa hydraulic design. Do not exceed the certified flow rating for the actual installation orientation.

AquaStar currently identifies the 1216 series as discontinued and no longer manufactured. Existing new inventory may remain available, but the manufacturing date, certification documents and installation instructions supplied with the specific assembly must be reviewed before installation.
