Description

The AquaStar R12MF101 12-Inch Square Retrofit MoFlow Suction Outlet Cover provides an anti-entrapment replacement solution for many existing 12-inch-square concrete pool and spa drain frames.

This product is the retrofit cover and hardware kit only. It does not include the mud frame supplied with AquaStar 12MF101 or a manufactured suction-outlet sump. The existing frame, sump and plumbing must already be installed, structurally sound and compatible with the replacement cover.

The R12MF design fits many AquaStar R 12-inch frames and selected Hayward, Waterway, American Products, Pentair, PacFab and Custom Molded Products frames approximately 1 inch deep with a compatible four-screw mounting pattern.

The included bushing kit helps adapt the cover to approved existing mounting configurations. Manufacturer-specified 316 stainless-steel screws secure the replacement cover to the compatible frame and provide corrosion resistance in pool and spa environments.

The MoFlow cover distributes suction across an approximately 69.1-square-inch opening area. Legacy AquaStar specifications list a maximum floor flow of 274 GPM and maximum wall flow of 278 GPM, both at approximately 1.3 feet per second.

The same opening area corresponds to approximately 323.1 GPM at an opening velocity of 1.5 feet per second and approximately 215.4 GPM at 1 foot per second. These velocity-based values do not replace the certified SOFA-specific rating for the complete installation.

The existing sump must provide at least 3 inches of depth and use plumbing that satisfies the certification and hydraulic design. Legacy specifications identify a minimum 2-1/2-inch pipe for the published configuration.

Because AquaStar manufactured this cover family under multiple certification periods, the installer must identify the manufacturing date molded into the cover and use the corresponding instructions, Certificate of Conformity and flow rating.

The cover is manufactured from UV-resistant engineered polymer designed for prolonged exposure to sunlight, treated pool water and outdoor conditions. The white finish coordinates with plaster, quartz, aggregate and other light-colored pool surfaces.

A replacement cover cannot correct a cracked frame, stripped mounting points, damaged sump, insufficient sump depth or unsafe hydraulic configuration. The complete existing outlet must be inspected before installation.

The suction outlet cover is a critical life-safety component. It must be installed according to AquaStar documentation, VGBA requirements, local codes and the pool or spa hydraulic design.

AquaStar specifies replacement no later than five years after installation, or sooner if the cover becomes cracked, warped, brittle, loose, discolored or otherwise damaged.

AquaStar identifies the R12MF series as discontinued and no longer manufactured. Existing inventory may remain available, but the molded manufacturing date, included hardware and applicable certification documents must be verified before installation.
