Description

The AquaStar WAV9WR101 9-Inch Square Wave Suction Outlet Assembly provides a complete anti-entrapment cover, vented riser ring and mud-frame package for compatible concrete swimming-pool and spa suction outlets.

Its Wave-pattern cover distributes suction through an approximately 48.4-square-inch opening area. The broad, patterned surface helps reduce concentrated suction while allowing water to move toward the permanent sump and connected circulation plumbing.

Published specifications list maximum flow ratings of 224 GPM for both floor and wall installations at an opening velocity of approximately 1.5 feet per second. The same opening area corresponds to approximately 150.9 GPM at an opening velocity of 1 foot per second.

The permitted operating flow applies to the certified complete installation rather than the loose cover alone. The sump geometry, plumbing arrangement, installation orientation and manufacturing date must match the applicable AquaStar instructions and Certificate of Conformity.

A minimum sump depth of 3 inches is published for the documented configuration. This minimum does not replace the additional dimensional, structural and hydraulic requirements contained in the applicable installation instructions.

The vented riser ring installs between the Wave cover and mud frame. It maintains the required spacing beneath the cover and preserves the designed water-flow path toward the sump.

The supplied mud frame supports compatible new concrete pool or spa construction. It establishes the mounting surface and positions the finished cover at the correct elevation relative to the surrounding plaster, quartz, pebble or aggregate finish.

The WAV9WR101 can also retrofit many compatible existing 9-inch-square frames approximately 3/4 inch deep. Every existing frame must be physically measured and inspected before compatibility is assumed.

Four manufacturer-specified 316 stainless-steel screws secure the cover and riser assembly. Every required mounting point must remain structurally sound so the cover cannot lift, move, rock or rotate during circulation-system operation.

The cover, vented riser ring and mud frame are manufactured from UV-resistant engineered polymer designed for prolonged exposure to sunlight, treated pool water and outdoor aquatic environments.

The white finish coordinates with plaster, quartz and other light-colored pool surfaces. Related AquaStar versions were also manufactured in black, light gray and dark gray.

The product may be used in a single- or multiple-outlet installation when permitted by the complete hydraulic design and certification applicable to the physical assembly.

A replacement cover-and-frame package cannot correct a cracked sump, unsafe plumbing arrangement, damaged concrete structure or noncompliant circulation system. The complete suction outlet must be inspected before installation.

AquaStar manufactured the WAV9WR family under multiple compliance periods. Products manufactured after May 24, 2021 require the applicable VGBA 2017 documentation and SOFA-specific installation information.

AquaStar identifies the WAV9WR series as discontinued and no longer manufactured. Remaining inventory should be checked for condition, manufacturing date, complete hardware and applicable certification documents before installation.

The cover must be replaced no later than five years after installation, or sooner if it becomes cracked, warped, brittle, loose, discolored or otherwise damaged.
