Description

The AquaStar 12MF101 12-Inch Square MoFlow Suction Outlet Cover and Frame provides a high-flow anti-entrapment drain-cover assembly for compatible concrete swimming pools and spas. The package includes a white square MoFlow cover, matching mud frame and corrosion-resistant mounting hardware.

The MoFlow design distributes suction across an approximately 71.2-square-inch open area. This broad opening helps reduce concentrated suction while supporting the circulation requirements of residential and commercial pool or spa systems.

AquaStar publishes a maximum flow rating of 274 GPM when the assembly is installed on a pool or spa floor and 278 GPM when installed on a wall. These ratings correspond to opening velocities of approximately 1.2 feet per second on the floor and 1.3 feet per second on the wall.

The assembly requires a compliant sump with a minimum depth of 3 inches. The actual allowable system flow also depends on the sump geometry, plumbing layout, pipe size, installation orientation and certification documents applicable to the specific cover’s manufacturing date.

The square cover is designed for compatible AquaStar 12-inch frames and can retrofit certain existing Pentair and other four-screw frames approximately 3/4 inch deep. Existing installations must be measured carefully because nominal dimensions alone do not confirm compatibility.

The cover and mud frame are manufactured from UV-resistant engineered polymer for prolonged exposure to sunlight, treated pool water and outdoor environments. Manufacturer-specified 316 stainless-steel fasteners provide corrosion-resistant attachment and allow future replacement of the cover.

The white finish coordinates with many plaster, quartz, aggregate and other light-colored pool surfaces. The square profile also provides broad coverage around the existing sump and mounting area.

This suction outlet cover is a critical safety component. It must be installed according to the AquaStar instructions, certification documents, VGBA requirements, local codes and the pool or spa hydraulic design.

AquaStar specifies replacement no later than five years after installation, or sooner if the cover becomes cracked, warped, brittle, loose, discolored or otherwise damaged.

AquaStar currently identifies the 12MF series as discontinued. Existing inventory may remain available, but the manufacturing date molded into the cover and all packaged compliance documentation must be reviewed before installation.
