The AquaStar 8MF105 8-Inch Round MoFlow Suction Outlet Cover and Mud Frame provides an anti-entrapment drain-cover assembly for compatible concrete swimming pools and spas. The package includes a dark gray round MoFlow cover, matching mud frame and corrosion-resistant mounting hardware.

The MoFlow design distributes suction across an approximately 16.6-square-inch opening area. This broad flow area helps reduce concentrated suction while supporting the circulation requirements of residential pool and spa systems.

AquaStar publishes a maximum flow rating of 166 GPM when the assembly is installed on a pool or spa floor and 113 GPM when installed on a wall. These ratings correspond to opening velocities of approximately 3.2 feet per second on the floor and 2.2 feet per second on the wall.

The opening area also corresponds to approximately 77.8 GPM at an opening velocity of 1.5 feet per second and 51.9 GPM at 1 foot per second. These velocity-based values do not replace the certified maximum flow rating applicable to the complete installed assembly.

The assembly requires a compliant sump with a minimum depth of 3 inches and a minimum 2-inch plumbing connection for the published configuration. Actual allowable flow also depends on the sump geometry, pipe layout, installation orientation and certification documents applicable to the specific cover’s manufacturing date.

The cover uses a mounting pattern with screw holes spaced approximately 7 inches center to center. It is designed to fit AquaStar standard 8-inch frames and many compatible American Products, Pentair, Waterway and Custom Molded Products frames.

The cover and mud frame are manufactured from UV-resistant engineered polymer for prolonged exposure to sunlight, treated pool water and outdoor conditions. Manufacturer-specified 316 stainless-steel fasteners provide corrosion-resistant attachment in wet aquatic environments.

The dark gray finish coordinates with darker plaster, quartz, pebble, aggregate, tile and other pool surfaces. AquaStar offers the same 8MF configuration in additional colors, including white, black, blue, light gray and tan.

This product is the complete cover-and-mud-frame assembly. It should not be confused with AquaStar R8MF101, which is the separate white retrofit MoFlow replacement cover-only product included later in this batch.

The suction outlet cover is a critical safety component. It must be installed according to AquaStar instructions, the certification documentation applicable to its manufacturing date, VGBA requirements, local codes and the pool or spa hydraulic design.

AquaStar specifies replacement no later than five years after installation or sooner if the cover becomes cracked, warped, brittle, loose, discolored or otherwise damaged.
