Description
The AquaStar 914101 Retrofit Suction Outlet Cover and Frame provides a VGBA-compliant solution for updating many older 9-inch-square concrete pool and spa drain assemblies without requiring complete removal of the existing sump or mud frame.
Although commonly described as a 9-inch retrofit cover, the visible anti-entrapment cover measures approximately 14 inches square. The included adapter assembly is designed to fit over many existing 9-inch-square frames and can accommodate compatible existing sumps or frames measuring up to approximately 13 inches across.
The large cover profile and engineered flow openings help distribute suction across a broad 84-square-inch area. AquaStar rates the assembly for a maximum flow of 560 GPM when installed on the floor and 300 GPM when installed on a wall, subject to the required sump depth, plumbing configuration and installation instructions.
The cover and frame are manufactured from durable, UV-resistant engineered polymer for long-term exposure to pool water, sunlight and outdoor conditions. Stainless-steel fasteners and molded-in brass inserts provide secure cover attachment while allowing future cover replacement according to the required service schedule.
For retrofit installations, the adapter frame can be anchored over a compatible existing frame using approved mechanical fasteners, epoxy or a combination of both. The new cover then attaches to the adapter using the specified machine screws rather than relying on unknown or deteriorated threads in the original drain assembly.
The white finish blends with many light-colored plaster, quartz, aggregate and pool surfaces. Other AquaStar drain-cover sizes and styles are available for installations that require a different footprint, flow rating or existing-frame configuration.
This suction outlet cover is a safety component. The complete installation must comply with the current AquaStar instructions, applicable VGBA requirements, local codes and the pool or spa system hydraulic design. The cover must be replaced no later than five years after installation or sooner if it becomes cracked, loose, damaged, discolored, brittle or otherwise compromised.
